Finestrat in a few lines
Finestrat covers a long strip between the coast and the mountains. At the bottom is the Cala de Finestrat, right next to Benidorm. In the middle are the shopping areas and the residential developments. At the top is the old village, perched on a rock at the foot of the Puig Campana, one of the most recognisable peaks on the Costa Blanca.
The homes we sell here are mainly in Balcón de Finestrat and Terra Marina, Finestrat Hills, Golf Puig Campana and Collado Real, as well as the village itself.
What kind of home you will find
Finestrat has a lot of recent development: modern villas with pools, townhouses and bungalows in developments with shared grounds, and the occasional apartment or penthouse. Compared with Altea, it feels less like a historic village and more like a residential area, with Benidorm and its services a few minutes away.
New build or resale
- With a new build you pay VAT and stamp duty instead of transfer tax. Check the bank guarantee on stage payments, the build specification and the handover date.
- With a resale home, ask for the nota simple, the energy certificate and the community and IBI bills.
- In both cases, check how you get to the development and how long it takes to reach the centre and the beach.
The full costs, with worked examples, are in the guide to buying costs. If village life by the sea appeals more, compare with the property for sale in Altea.
Frequently asked questions
Does Finestrat have a beach?
Yes, the Cala de Finestrat, on the coast next to Benidorm. The old village and most of the developments are inland, a few minutes by car from the sea.
Which parts of Finestrat have villas with sea views?
The higher developments, such as Balcón de Finestrat and Finestrat Hills, look out over Benidorm and the sea. Golf Puig Campana and Collado Real sit further towards the mountain.
What taxes does a new build home in Finestrat pay?
A new build bought from the developer pays VAT on the price plus stamp duty (AJD) on the deed, at a lower rate if it will be your main home. A resale home pays transfer tax (ITP) instead. In both cases you add the notary, the land registry and the gestoría. Current figures and worked examples are in our guide to purchase taxes and costs in the Valencian Community.
