Long-term rentals in Altea
This page shows the homes we have to let on long-term contracts in Altea: flats, apartments and the occasional house to live in all year. In a resort town the supply of year-round lets is small, because many homes go to holiday rentals, and good ones are usually taken within days.

What homes to rent does this page include?
Only lets for living in appear here, with no holiday stays. Most are flats and apartments in the town and in complexes with a shared pool, with a house or a villa on an estate from time to time. Each listing shows whether the home comes furnished, whether parking is included and the date it becomes available.
Where in Altea should you rent?
If you will work in town or have children at school, Altea Pueblo lets you do almost everything on foot. If you work from home and want space, a villa on an estate is worth the daily drive. Flats near the beach are in the highest demand and come up least often. What the town is like outside the summer months is covered in Altea all year round.
How do you secure a rental in Altea ahead of other applicants?
Year-round lets go quickly, so have your paperwork ready before you view:
- A valid passport, national ID card or NIE.
- Proof of income: payslips, a tax return or a pension statement.
- A bank guarantee or guarantor if your income is not Spanish, depending on what the landlord accepts.
- A reference from your previous landlord.
Before you sign, read up on the term, the deposit and any extra guarantees in our guide to long-term renting in Altea. To plan your monthly budget, see the cost of living in Altea.
Should you rent in Altea before you buy?
Renting for a few months is a sound way to test neighbourhoods before buying. You live through the winter, see the August traffic for yourself and decide without pressure. When you are ready, browse property for sale in Altea.
If a home here suits you, send an enquiry from the listing or ring our Altea office to book a viewing.
Frequently asked questions
What documents do landlords in Altea ask for?
Usually your passport or NIE, recent payslips or your latest tax return if you are self-employed, a recent bank statement and a reference from a previous landlord. If you have just arrived and have no Spanish payslips, ask which guarantee the landlord accepts: the rules on extra guarantees changed in October 2026.
How long does a residential tenancy in Spain last?
The rules on term and renewal in Spain's Urban Leases Act are changing: Royal Decree-laws 28/2026 and 29/2026 rewrite them and, as of November 2026, are awaiting validation by Congress, so check the current text in the official state gazette (BOE) and have the contract explained before you sign.
Are long-term rentals in Altea furnished?
A good share of the long-term supply comes furnished, because many homes have been used as holiday lets at some point. If the flat is furnished, the inventory is part of the contract: photograph every room on handover day and sign a list recording the condition of each item of furniture and every appliance.
What is the difference between a long-term let and a seasonal contract?
Since 8 October 2026 Spain's Urban Leases Act calls the old seasonal contract a temporary residential tenancy (arrendamiento de vivienda temporal), and its rules depend on a decree-law awaiting validation as of November 2026, so check the current text in the official state gazette (BOE) before signing any contract.
